How does anxiety manifest ?

 

Anxiety can manifest itself on a bodily level by:

  • feeling a general lack of control in the body,
  • breathing difficulties, suffocation,
  • feeling of a punch in the stomach or vomiting,
  • sweating,
  • rapid heartbeat,
  • dryness in the throat

 

Anxiety can manifest itself on a behavioural level by:

  • self-sabotage,
  • inability to express yourself,
  • inability to act in the desired way,

Anxiety can manifest itself on a psychological level by:

  • a state of inhibition,
  • excessive mental agitation,
  • excessive worry,
  • a subjective state of anxiety,
  • in its extreme form it is felt as a disconnection from one’s own being, as a strong fear of death or of reaching the brink of madness.
